Wedding at Val de Vie
Paarl
Thembi & Tando’s wedding at Val de Vie was our first of the season at this awesome Polo and Wine Estate in Paarl. Thembi has a special place in our heart, as we did her Crown Birthday at Festa in Wellington a few years ago. Fast forward to the present day and she transformed into a beautiful bride walking down the isle!
I have to mention Shawn Thomas, a brand new member of our shooting team. Starting as wedding assistant and second shooter at the crisp young age of 15, he now at 19 years has about 150 weddings under his belt! Watch this space! It was Shawn’s first wedding with ZaraZoo and we have to give him a big pat on the back for a job very well done!

South African Weddings at Val de Vie
Both bride and groom got dressed at Sante Hotel & Spa, just up the road from Val de Vie. Tando wore a classic 3-piece suit. Thembi looked gorgeous in her high neck embroidered pure white wedding gown. The outdoor ceremony took place in the courtyard, next to the ballroom. Since the venue is a Polo Estate, the couple opted for a Polo theme and also arranged for a Polo match to be played for guest entertainment while we took them away for the couple photos. Locations for the couple shoot included the stables, vineyards and the Polo pavilion, all on the estate. To tie in with the theme, all the female guests were asked to wear hats, headpieces or fascinators and the male guest dress code was strictly black suits.
It was a Spring Saturday afternoon in October 2007 when Tando said “Hello” with his radiant smile and dimple face. Tando and I met while we were students at UCT. We both were students from the Engineering & Build Environment Faculty. Both of us had been selected to be Orientation Leaders (OL) for the prospectus students for the following academic year. We had a workshop we were both attending for being OL and we had a short conversation that day. In my mind I thought this guy is cute and also kind. We then met again the following week and we exchanged numbers and as they say “the rest is history
An Elegant and Classy Wedding
The French-inspired ballroom at Val de Vie was perfect for the classy affair and that was one of the reasons why the couple opted for this upmarket venue to celebrate their marriage. It was a day wedding, with the ceremony being conducted in the morning. The wedding Reception flowed over into mid-afternoon. An earlier than usual reception did not deter the 200 wedding guests from fully enjoying themselves. They all danced, celebrated and partied up a storm!
