Today we share with you Mariette and De Villiers’s wedding at Lourensford Estate. With their parents being good friends, the couple has known each other since childhood, but it took 8 years of dating before De Villiers popped the big question.
We wanted the vibe and atmosphere on our wedding day to be relaxed yet elegant and stylish. Lourensford was the perfect venue as we had a lounge area on the veranda where the guests could just relax and take in the AMAZING views and we also had a reggae band to create the mood.
For a couple that lives in Lagos, Nigeria, arranging a wedding back in South Africa can be a nightmare. But the Lourensford venue luckily offers you the opportunity to have both ceremony and reception in one place on the estate and that makes the planning so much easier! They also had the help of Liza Geldenhuys, their coordinator and De Villiers’s mom with the planning process.
Beautiful Wedding Ceremony at Lourensford Estate
The ceremony was conducted in the lane that leads up to the venue – a romantic setting under the canopy of trees with an all-white theme and some touches of pastel. Laurant, the main reception hall at Lourensford was the choice for their wedding reception. Couple photos were taken on the estate with some stunning portraits at the lake near the forest at the foot of the Helderberg mountains. The couple spent the wedding night in Erinvale Hotel & Spa that luckily right next door to Lourensford.
I had a very clear vision of the shape I wanted my wedding dress to be. I was very fortunate that one of my best friends is also the best wedding dress designer! (Alana van Heerden) We used dove-grey for the bottom layer which gave my dress a bit of colour through the white lace and tulle netting. I also never pictured myself in a long dress so we did a “tea-length” dress, I absolutely LOVED it!! We got the bridesmaids’ outfits from Forever New.
For De Villiers we left it a bit last minute!!! We went suit hunting 4 days before the wedding! We found the perfect suit at Hugo Boss. The groomsmen wore Country Road and Trenery. We got their boutonnieres from Fabiani.
