It’s been a while since we posted a wedding! The end of the wedding season surely was a cracker! Jo-Lizna had a baby and Stefan traveled half way around the world with corporate photography jobs. But for now, we’re all back in the office again, so you’ll see a lot more on the blog in the weeks to come.
Tamsyn & Darren’s (Dax) stylish wedding at Cavalli Estate in Stellenbosch was one of the last of 2016. Both bride and groom got ready in Somerset West. Darryn and the boys got ready at Winelands Villa and Guesthouse and Tarryn at the well known Lord Charles Hotel.
Our bride wore a mermaid style gown, made entirely from off-white lace. The stunning detachable train was made from tulle and it had a lace bottom. Dax wanted to be different from his groomsmen but still be matching with our colors. The couple spotted a burgundy suit on Pinterest and started hunting down a suit maker that could replicate it. After the best part of 8 months in the search, they came across ASOS, where Dax could have his burgundy suit made to measure (just like they saw it in the Pictures!) The groomsmen all wore the same light grey suits with light brown shoes.
Our couple wanted a “Rustic-Glam” theme and being thousands of miles away from their wedding venue, they left it all in the capable hands of CaraLee of the Mosaic Wedding Company to coordinate the event and bring their dream to life! Cavalli with its equestrian theme and blank canvas venue speaks GLAM, but to bring the rustic element into this, needed an experienced hand. Tarryn was full of praise for CaraLee’s work and very happy with the end result.
The day couldn’t have gone more perfect in our eyes. Everything was just as we had pictured it would be and more. The flowers, the décor, the signs and everything were exactly what we had imagined for our special day.
The ceremony was held in the sunken garden and photos were taken on the grounds of Cavalli. It is one of our new favourite venues to shoot at. Just have a look at the couple shoot… Those breathtaking views over the Stellenbosch mountains with sunset…. Our couple also wanted photos with horses. By hosting their wedding on a stud farm, they had access to a lovely black thoroughbred – so stylish!!
When asked about her favourite part of the day, Tarryn could not stop taking about the song that her cousin, Melissa Allison, performed for them. Tarryn recalls: “Her and I talked about some key facts about mine and Dax’s relationship and she created the whole song from scratch, with the help of her brother (Dean Allison) who played the guitar.”
