Back a Nooitgedacht for Rochelle and Sunjeeva’s wedding to kick of the 2017/2018 season. Nooitgedacht is one of our favourite Stellenbosch Weddings – We absolutely love working there! This wine estate is also conveniently close to Cape Town, so it is very popular with international brides – just 35 minutes from the mother city.
Apart from the beautiful scenery, lovely lawns for outdoor ceremonies and a huge reception hall, there is also the beautiful Manor House – This historic building and farm was once owned by none other than Cecil John Rhodes! Some of the interior and relics are still intact, making this venue even more special.
Both Rochelle and Sunjeeva got ready at Nooitgedacht. It just makes logistical sense to get ready on site as this saves a lot of time in transport – time that can be used instead to celebrate with close family and friends on the day. The ceremony was held in the Barn Annex that was very romantically lit up with candles. After the vows were exchanged and docs were signed, our couple was showered by confetti while exiting the Manor House voyer.
We’ve got to give praise to Tracy of Trunk Events for pulling off this lovely wedding. Tracy, we love your work!

All the photos were taken on site. That tree lined lane leading up to the historic Cape Dutch Gabled Manor house is something out of a movie! It was the perfect setting to take the bulk of the family and couple photos. Apart from this, Nooitgedacht also has expansive grounds and vineyards. It was a pity that we could not use the Vineyards at that time of the year. The vineyards had only just started budding and were not at their full lush green, characteristic of the Cape Winelands. Also due to the cloudy conditions, the beautiful lake with views over the Stellenbosch mountains did not suffice as a good backdrop. This spot is magical on a sunny day!
Contrary to popular belief, October is not the start of summer, but it is still very much winter down here in Cape Town. The chilly cloudy weather meant some of the lovely ideas that our bride had for canapés on the lawn outside the manor house, had to be moved inside. But that did not dampen the spirit of Rochelle’s guests. From the looks of it, they had a fantastic, jovial time right to the end.
The reception was held in the old Barn at Nooitgedacht. The black and white theme was pulled through to the table decor as well, with a stunning chequered floor in the middle. That same floor was the stage for an elegant and quirky first dance that got the party going. Young and old took to the dance floor to show off every move in the book. The night ended with a very romantic sendoff with guests lining up with sparklers and our couple walking through it into the next phase of their lives.
