Wedding in New York City

If you want to see the world… then become a wedding photographer! This time around it was Natelee’s turn to do a wedding in New York City!!!

Jip, it’s awesome, but hard work!  56 hour round trip, working in an unfamiliar environment and shooting in vastly different lighting conditions to South Africa – but all that fades away when you realise the amazing opportunity one gets to travel and experience new places.  Wedding Photography rocks!!!

Kayla and Chris first met in July 2009 at The Horseshoe Bar in Glasgow, Scotland while Kayla was visiting a friend.

A few pints and a train ride later, they were smitten.  Assuming that it would be CRAZY to date long distance, Kayla returned to New York, only to compare all of her dates from then on to Chris.

Fast forward to December 2010 when the pair met again in New York City for their friends wedding.  Even through Chris was incredibly nervous; they picked up immediately where they left off as if no time had passed. Chris told Kayla that he had forgotten how funny she is (which she obviously LOVED) and Kayla told Chris that she had never liked someone so much.”

Kayla did her preparations at the Renaissance Hotel and Chris did his at their apartment in NYC.  The dress was a one-shoulder made entirely of Ivory Silk by Amsale. She had the hem raised in the front to show off her blue suede Manolo Blahnik pumps.  Chris’s suit was made by Suit Supply.

The wedding ceremony & reception was held at Tom Colicchio’s Riverpark Restaurant.  The restaurant is famous for sourcing all their veggies, spices, etc. from their micro-farm in Manhattan right next to the restaurant.  The wedding was a Brunch sitdown!  Yip they do things different across the pond!

The couple photos were done at 4pm after the reception around the Riverpark Hotel and Renaissance Hotel with their 17th floor Hotel room overlooking the iconic Chrysler Building.  Pity we could not do it slightly later as that day had the most beautiful pink sunset.
