Laurent at Lourensford Wedding

Shaun and Jade’s wedding at Lourensford was the first we have covered at this well-known wedding venue in Somerset West for quite a while. Lourensford is one of the largest wine estates in the Western Cape and besides producing award-winning wines, a variety of other crops is farmed and they even have a wood mill on the property. Here, no photographer can complain that they have a lack of scenery and raw material to work with!

Getting Married at Lourensford

Born and bred South Africans, Shaun and Jade now live in Australia, but as most of their family are in South Africa, it made sense to get married here. The whole wedding was arranged from back in OZ, a bit nerve wrecking I can imagine! But looking at the photos, I don’t think Jade could have done a better job! In Jade’s words… “The key is to book the best venue and most professional service providers!” (see the list at the bottom of this post)

To top it, for Jade, this was the first time she had ever visited Cape Town! She fell in love with it instantly – How can you not when you are surrounded by such natural beauty!

The couple photos were done at a lake at the top of the estate. We got the most fantastic light when the sun dipped behind the Helderberg Mountains – It was almost magical and very, very romantic! I must say, when you have a couple that is so comfortable with each other as these two, the photographers’ job becomes a breeze.

The outdoor ceremony was done in the middle of the oak-lined lane that leads up to the wedding venue – WOW! What a spot! And the Autumn leaves falling continuously helped to create a real fairytale. The reception was done at Laurent at Lourensford.
