Wedding in Greece – Part 1
Princess Hotel, Skiathos
For the last two days, while editing Deanna & Dimitri’s wedding photos, I’ve had this deep longing to be back in Skiathos, Greece. Yes, the island was gorgeous and we were in a semi holiday mode, but it was the group of people that we experienced this wedd ing with that made it one of my top 3 destination wedd ings to date!
The 5-star Princess Hotel Skiathos offered the perfect setting and facilities for the informal wedding D&D wanted. It has its own little Greek orthodox chapel and for the reception, the day-time taverna on the beach was converted into an idyllic open air party area! Fancy dancing the night away with the warm Mediterranean waters lapping barely 2 meters away! That is exactly what they did until the sun came up the next morning!
Now, if you have ever been to Greece in July, you’ll know that the heat can be unbearable at times – We had a stretch of 7 days above 30 Celcius and the wedding day topped at 34 degrees! In order to prevent half the guests from passing out, the ceremony was set for 7pm. Unfortunately that posed a few problems of its own as the sun set at about 8:30 and meant I barely had any time for the couple photos. But we solved that problem quickly by doing most of the couple shoot a few days later!
