Eastern Cape Wedding
Back in December we covered Sango & Cindy’s Eastern Cape Wedding. Natelee is a close friend of the couple, so booking her for the wedding photos was a no-brainer. (She is after all, one of SA’s best wedding photographers!)
With roots deep roots in the Eastern Cape and schooling in Grahams Town, our bride and groom decided to return this lovely part of South Africa to celebrate their wedding with their close family and friends. The ceremony took place at Kleinemonde Chapel and the reception was held just at the beautiful Oceana Beach & Wildlife Resort in Port Alfred, just 5 minutes away.
Sango is Xhosa and Cindy of English decent. They wanted to reflect both cultures and traditions on their wedding day. So at the church, the hymns were sung in both Xhosa and English and at the pre-reception drinks the English lawn game, croquet, was set up for guest entertainment. Another very English element was brought in when Pimms was served. Canape’s included tempura prawns, roast beef phyllo baskets, red onion and brie tarts, potato rosti’s with cream cheese and trout, as well as pot bread and jams. At the reception the bridal party couple entered in the traditional Xhosa way by dancing and shuffling in, of course with huge applause by their guests.
Both bride and groom did their preparations at Oceana. Sango was outfitted by Country Road and Cindy wore a stunning Robyn Roberts dress.
I wanted something comfortable, romantic and with an elegant, “olden day” feel. It was perfect for getting in and out of the game drive vehicle and for our beach photo’s!
For the couple photos Natelee was spoilt for choice as Oceana is located right on the beach and also stretches inland with plenty of wildlife and scenery to utilize.
