Beach Wedding Inspiration
Sea Shack, Paternoster, South Africa
This is not a real beach wedding, but rather a Boho Inspired styled shoot that was organised by Pin Book Weddings to showcase one of the most amazing intimate wedding venues in South Africa. This shoot was so much fun! It happened just as our hard lockdown ended and it was fantastic to get the creative juices flowing again!
Ever since I first visited Sea Shack in Paternoster, I fell in love with this romantic little eco resort. It is situated a stones throw outside Paternoster, inside the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve. The complex consists of a series of small free standing “Shacks” on the edge of the high water mark, as well as a Boma and communal building that is equipped for cooking and dining. The resort functions entirely on gas and solar power which makes you feel even closer to nature.
Sea Shack is the ideal intimate, off-the-beaten-track wedding venue. In total, the resort can sleep 28 people, which makes it ideal for a wedding weekend getaway. Here your closest friend and family can meet up on the Friday for a festive fish braai, and the next day you have a romantic wedding ceremony in between the boulders, followed by an intimate dinner under the stars, with the sounds of the ebb and flow just a few feet away.
Pink Book approached us to do the photography and videography for their boho beach wedding inspiration. It was amazing to be part of such a fun and creative team on the day. Marcel of Design by Marcel came up with the most romantic and colourful wedding table and totem pole tripod on the rocks for the ceremony. Another star on the day was Lienkie van Eeden of Love Lienkie Events that pulled everything and everyone together to create the most amazing styled shoot I have worked at to date!

Beach Wedding Inspired Styled Shoot
Sea Shack is not marketed as a wedding venue and it does not have furniture, tables and chairs to host a wedding, so we had to source the table and ornate wooden chairs from a nearby wedding venue called Gelukkie. Other decor elements were provided by N Concepts and the antique plates and cutlery is from the scullery of Marcel. I think the wedding table looked fantastic!
The dresses used for this beach wedding inspired shoot was provided by Victor K Couture. The hair and make-up of our models were done by the very talented Mont Romay hair and make-up artist. As photographers, we had an absolute ball! The natural scenery lends to so many backdrops and photo opportunities. The huge boulders at the ceremony location, the sandy beach, the wooden jetty and even the shacks of the resort. We really had an endless array of options to show off the dresses.
Our two very willing models were superb. Not only were they very willing, but also in some cases also a bit daring! To climb to the top of rocks with high heels cannot be easy! My favourite shots of the day was definitely the photos taken in the golden hour as the sun set. It worked out beautifully and I got some stunning shots of our models in their boho inspired dresses.
