Beach Wedding in Yzerfontein
Strandkombuis
It has been a while since we’ve covered a wedding at our favourite west coast wedding venue, Strandkombuis! Rozelle and Tiaan’s beach wedding in Yzerfontein broke a few records in its own right! Definitely the wedding with the most bridesmaids – a whopping 10!!! Another record that I am sure was broken was the wind speed record for a beach wedding! We got sandblasted!
Rozelle and the girls got ready at the 4-star luxury guest house, Villa Pescatori, in Yzerfontein. This bridal party needed big rooms for the preps – apart from the 10 bridesmaids, there was also the bride and both mothers to add to the mix! Our bride looked stunning in her custom-made Werner Dey creation – plain and perfect for the beach, with a wow factor on the back. The very talented Werner also designed and made all the bridesmaids dresses and that of the mother of the bride.

Strandkombuis Wedding in Yzerfontein
Tiaan and the groomsmen got ready at Rooisee on the Strandkombuis grounds. We love the rustic, seaside look of this newly renovated seaside cottage. When you step in there you automatically feel chilled and relaxed! Tiaan and the boys’ outfits were custom-made by Wedding & Suit International. The groom sported a sandstone summer suit, crafted from Irish Linen. The groomsmen wore light blue pants, white shirts, suspenders, custom wooden bowties and happy socks with their tan coloured shoes. For a beach wedding, they could not have chosen more fitting attire!
Our couple wanted a fun, relaxed day with their friends and family and Otto De Jager (ODJ Events) was trusted to make this idea come to life. The themes that they sandblasted were fynbos and beach. As always, Otto, Sven and team ODJ created something magical! The unusual combination of elements and the total “out-of-the-box” thinking of this team is why we love covering their weddings. They did a fantastic job, despite the gale force winds hampering their efforts. I’ve listed a few other weddings we’ve done for them at the bottom of this post.
Tiaan and Rozelle exchanged their vows on the beach, with the sound of crashing waves in the background. Someone must have kept a good eye on the tides because as the ceremony concluded, the high tide swept in underfoot where the ceremony was held just minutes before! Luckily there were no cold feet for either Tiaan or Rozelle 🙂
Canapés were served on the beach and couple photos were taken at the old fisherman’s barn at Rooisee and on the salt pan behind Strandkombuis. The menu for the evening included oven fresh homemade bread, apricot jam and korrelkonfyt, butternut soup and an abundance of mussels, calamari, smoked snoek, prawns, pumpkin fritters and other traditional farm-style seafood. Supper at Strandkombuis is something to look forward to. Thx Bastiaan and crew for preparing another fantastic meal!
When we left, the party was in full swing, a dance floor full of dancing Afrikaners. Nothing better than a good old “langarm”. Tiaan and Rozelle, we thoroughly enjoyed your wedding and hope you enjoy the way we captured your day – The perfect beach wedding in Yzerfontein!
