Red Ivory in Magalies is one of our favourite wedding venues in Gauteng.  And almost every African wedding we’ve shot there have been featured in Wedding Magazines!  Have a look at the bottom of this post to see our latest wedding, shot at Red Ivory, and featured in the prestigious Fair Lady Bride Magazine.

The lovely Walter and Baakedi tied the knot almost a year ago and just today, we finally got the go-ahead to blog it! What a stunning day it was!  One cannot help but fall in love with the red highveld sunsets.  And with this wedding, we got the timing for their couple shoot spot on!  Most Gauteng photographers are probably totally over a couple photo shoot in the bushveld, but for us, it was a welcome change of scenery from the usual vineyards and mountain shots we do here in Cape Town.

Both our Bride and Groom got ready at Red Ivory. Having accommodation on-site helps a lot with logistics and to make this venue such an appealing choice.  Another big plus point is that they also have a chapel on the grounds which is very close to the reception venue. So Red Ivory is a true All-in-one venue that will save you quite a lot in transport and also in time!

The Chapel, perched on a hill, overlooking the bushveld below, is the perfect romantic setting to make those life long promises.  After the lovely ceremony, guest enjoyed drinks and canapés on the lawn, before they entered into the unique reception venue that overlooks the whole of Magalies and Hartebeespoort dam.  This must be one of only a few venues that have an open fish pond in the middle of the venue!

In short, Walter and Baakedi’s African Wedding at Red Ivory was a fantastic highveld experience and when one works with such a lovely couple it reminds me again why I enjoy shooting weddings so much!
