It was the first time that I shot at the Sandpiper in Yzerfontein. It is run by the same people that owns the very popular Strandkombuis just 200m down the road.
Jorrie & Alret got married on Valentine’s Day – Sweet! Have a look at their wedding photos. Also Check out their E-session we did at Mouille Point a few months ago.
A couple more in love than these two will be hard to find - We did their couple shoot before the ceremony. When Alret came down the stairs and Jorrie saw her, it reminded me of a scene out of a romantic Hollywood movie. If you can still remember what it felt like when you picked up your date for your Matric dance… I got the same sort of feeling.
Alret did her preparations at Harrison’s House, a 5-star Guest House in Langebaan. From there we went to the most awesome rocks next to Die Strandloper seafood restaurant. Despite a 50km/h strong wind, we still got some great shots here – further done the post.

The best reportage shots happen on the run. The photo below is one of my favourite of this wedding – On my way out to the ceremony on the beach, I saw these two flower girls getting ready in the venue – I turned around took 2 fast shots and headed to the beach. It was only when I downloaded these that I saw the boy and the girl dancing in the background – hows that for luck!!

Amazingly the wind subsided once the ceremony got going! It was beautiful. Annegret of Leipzig did a great job with the decor. These guys put so much detail into their work. That is why they are at the top of that game here in the Western Cape. Check out the table decor further down this post.

The Sandpiper is a venue with the best of both worlds. The beach is literally 30m from it, but the venue itself is sheltered from the weather. It is a risk free option, because when the wind or rain comes, there is a plan B, to have the ceremony inside. It has a typical beach house, west coast feel and it is decorated in the rustic uncomplicated way. It is one of those places that feels like home from the moment you set foot inside it – and you don’t feel bad about walking in with sandy feet.
Another big bonus is that there is plenty of accommodation on site for wedding guests to stay over after a good party. This place will definitely become one of the top wedding venues in the Western Cape!

You know that we also publish the Little Pink Book for which we had the launch party last night at the Grand Daddy Hotel in Cape Town. Jorrie and Alret used this book for most of their planning and book no less than 4 of their service providers straight from it!!
