Yes, we do fashion as well…. This time around, we shot at Die Strandkombuis, Yzerfontein.
Fashion Wear: Jade and Velvet (Tyger Valley Centre)
Bridal Wear: Didi Couture

Strandkombuis is the most amazing venue! It has the sea, the dunes, great sunsets and this cool salt pan behind it… Only found out later that it was a nature reserve and we should not have entered the FENCED IN area!!! (OOPS) But you know what photographers are like… we see a good spot and we will shoot there, come hell or high water! Sorry!!! – Great photos though…
The South African sun is extremely harsh. If you do not have counter lighting like a on camera flashgun or a reflector, its difficult to get flattering images and a fashion look. So we hired an 800Watt flashhead with a portable battery pack and smacked it on full power! Only then can you get the desired result.
What do photographers do when they wait for models’ hair and make-up to be done…. They play!
A photographer friend from London was in SA to shoot a wedding, so he came along. Aziz got some great shots. I love the one above of Robyn walking on the beach (in a very strong wind!). Aziz runs a very successful Wedding Photography business in London – have a look at his site (Aira Photography)
Who says great images come easy? I tell you how they happen… This one above was shot at sunset with a freezing wind of 50khm blowing so strong that two people had to hold down the soft box!!! Thx Andre & Laura! Not to mention the sand getting in everywhere – Laura spent 2 hours cleaning the equipment the next day!!!
Just look at the versatility lighting gives you. The image above was taken at exactly the same time as the one below of us in action!
