The Intercontinental Hotel on Hyde Park is a symbol of status and opulence! For Leonard & Sue, there was no other choice than to host their extravagant wedding at this plush hotel.
The day was set in two parts. At the English Civil wedding in the morning Sue paraded a fabulous white gown and for the reception later that afternoon she changed into a mythical traditional Indian wedding dress.

In the Western Cape, very few weddings happen in the winter months (June, July & August) – that is why ZaraZoo moves its operations north for the UK summer. This year was a bumper year for us in the UK, with no less than 20 shoots around London, Liverpool, Oxford and Paris.

Arvinder and Raj’s Sikh wedding took place in Blackpool (UK) in July. Blackpool is a typical UK coastal town riddled with amusements centers and fun fairs. It is also the UK capital for Stag and Hen Nights.

Many of you probably don’t know that ZaraZoo started out covering Asian weddings in London. And even though we are based in South Africa, this year we have shot no fewer than 15 Hindu, Sikh and Muslim weddings in the UK!
For Arvinder and Raj’s wedding, we traveled all the way up to Blackpool. This post covers some of the pre-wedding ceremonies, the Mayian, Vatna, Choora bangles and Jaggo. Still to come over the next week will be Arivinder & Raj’s Sikh wedding as well as their civil wedding at the magnificent Knowsley Hall!

I’m not a big fan of too much posing for photos, but when you come across a couple like Hamza & Mariam that are so at easy in front of the camera, it is like having a ball of clay in your hands.
I must give credit to Aziz of Aira Photography for training them well. Aziz covered the other 2 days of the wedding celebrations. These two were such natural posers, that at times I doubted whether I was doing a wedding gig or a Model shoot! Thanks for the opportunity to shoot for Aira Photography Aziz!

How awesome is it to be able to photograph such a big variety of people? I feel very blessed to be able to meet and mingle with people across a wide cultural spectrum and to learn about their traditions, rituals and way of life!
I’m in the UK at the moment and just finished 8 shoots in as many days… Over the past week, I have shot a Tamil wedding, a Hindu wedding, 2 Muslim weddings and 4 E-sessions – all in and around London! And this coming weekend, I’m heading north, to Blackpool, where I’ll be shooting a Sikh wedding!
Manju and Hans got married at the breathtaking Painshill Park in Surrey – This wedding venue, in its idyllic country setting, certainly counts under the top wedding spots in the UK! – Enjoy!

Adrian & Abi’s wedding at Banqueting House in Central London was my first shoot in the UK this year. Over the next two months, we have plenty of UK weddings to follow, so watch this space…
I did this wedding for my photographer friend, Aziz of Aira Photography with whom we have built a great international working relationship. Aziz has shot a few weddings with and for us in Cape Town – charming bloke with a very creative style. For some reason, the traditional Asian wedding is not recognised as a lawful marriage and this means the couple must have a civil wedding as well. The Civil wedding of Amisha and Nilesh happened at Moore Park – an amazing golf estate in Hertfordshire.

While living in the UK for 10 years, we built up a big northern hemisphere clientele – So in the quiet season here in South Africa we head over to the UK to work the wedding season in June, July and August.
In the UK, we predominantly service the Asian Wedding industry. It has grown phenomenally in past years and some of the best photographers now only do Indian weddings.
