I have visited Bredasdorp 4 times in the last 2 months and have grown quite fond of this little town. This is the second post in a 4 part series on the town. Be notified of the next post by RSS
Take 1 – Bredasdorp Square
Take 2 – Wedding of Nikki & Antoni
Take 3 – Bredasdorp Square revisited – detail shots
Take 4 – Wedding of Thereza & Leon (20 Dec)
Last week I wrote about my anticipation of Nikki and Antoni’s wedding in Bredasdorp. Well, here are the photos. This wedding exceeded my wildest expectations!
The ceremony was conducted at the local NG church and the reception at Firlane House. For the reception, an enormous free-form tent by Nomadik was stretched over the pool and lawn at the back to create a 5 star venue that hosted about 180 guests.
Photographer: Stefan Steenkamp
Assistant: Bernard Bravenboer (see his blog post)
Nikki did her preparations in the honeymoon suite at Firlane House. The room has a magnificent conservatory bathroom with a double shower and free-standing bath.
I am thinking of buying a 85mm F1.2 lens (apparently the best lens Canon ever made) – So I hired one for the weekend to test it out at this wedding. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW…. It is so sharp and the F1.2 gives insane results!
Lens hired from: Photo Hire – Cape Town
The two cute flower girls got angel wings to wear. They were spray painted brown to match the wedding theme and left to dry in the shower….
For the couple photo session, we headed 5km out of town towards Napier. It was overcast but that didn’t stop us from getting great landscape shots in this recently harvested wheat field. See Nikki and Antoni’s E-session (on our website) done in this field before it was harvested.
Back at Firlane House, the guests were treated to a marimba band and sushi.
The wedding was organised by Antoinette Events, a company run by Marina du Toit Du Toit, Toni’s mum. She did a fabulous job!
In true Afrikaans style, the single men gave Toni a hard time when it came to the speeches. I must say, he weathered the storm well and put them in their place early by giving each of them a shot of Jagermeister when his speech began. It kept some quiet, but for others it was fuel on the fire.
Bernard did an excellent job – It was his first time assisting me. He is usually assists Sybrand Cillie of Pro Photography, so he knows enough to make my job easier – Thanks Bernard!
The photo below is one of my favourites of the wedding – Toni’s dad taking a shot of the couple cutting the cake – love the expression.
And the later it got, the more the party started to heat up. See the sequence below of how a Jagermeister shot should be drunk.
On this trip to Bredasdorp, I also did some product shots of Zoon’s gift shop, Bredasdorp Square. Look out for a post about this fabulous shop with gifts that are spicing up the town . Be notified by RSS
