Ashley and Olivia are born and bred Captonians, but these days they are high flyers in Johannesburg. Most of their family and friends still live in Cape Town, so it was the logical choice to tie the knot down south. The chosen venue was Backsberg Wine Estate near Paarl.
See Ahsley & Olivia’s E-session, also done at Backsberg.
Olivia’s preps were done in Belhar at her mom’s house. The bunch of girls were so excited about the day that they were almost totally done by the time I got there – I was just in time to get Olivia jumping into her dress.
We like to try out new things, so I hired an 85mm F1.2 lens for the day – what a beauty! Well it better be good at R24 000 new!!! This lens enables you to totally blur out the background, like I did in the shot below of Olivia putting on her ear rings.
The cellar at Backsberg is certainly one of the most interesting ceremony locations in the Cape. It is cosy and intimate, but very dark. It reminds me a lot of the cellar at Haute Cabriere, that we featured on this blog last year. So, if the shots are a bit grainy, forgive me… it was shot at 2500 ISO and up!!!
The indoor reception venue, Neville’s Place, is very spacious and a blank canvas – ideal for people that want to create their own look and feel. It also has a superb courtyard that can easily be covered with a bedouin tent to create an outdoor venue with a Latin feel.
The catering was done by Extreem Kwizeen and the cake by Cakes by Wade. The flowers were done by Kleine Marie florists.
