SM 009 Shoot your table numbers why not?

I bet most of you have seen the movie, Invictus, with Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon…  In this movie, we are reminded of the moment when the huge Boeing 747 flew very low over Ellis Park with the 1995 Rugby World Cup opening game in South Africa.  Well, the man that piloted that plane is none other than Megan’s dad!  Interresting stories like these are part of the reason that being a professional photographer is such an amazing job.

Furthermore, Megan & Stephan have both played tennis for South Africa and Megan’s mom represented South Africa at Wimbledon!  You can just imagine the genes that their kids will have!

But to come to the point of this post…  The E-session is normally done to help people feel more comfortable in front of the camera.  But it can also serve other purposes.   80% of couples doing a pre-wedding shoot with us, end up using the photos at their wedding in some or other way.  Some print canvasses with white borders so that people can write messages on the side.  Others include these informal photos in their guest books.  Megan and Stephan had the idea to use their Engagement shoot photos as table number indicators.  So Andre took them to the Bo-Kaap to to their E-session, with just this in mind.  A brilliant idea! – what do you think?

ZZ DI060310 730 South Hill Take 1

Andre looked forward to shooting this wedding from the day Danie & Ilene booked us.  They are long time friends of Andre’s – a very interesting and arty couple.  And the wedding totally lived up to our expectations!  South Hill near Elgin was the chosen spot for the ceremony and reception -  Check out the couple shoot photos, done with the vintage Ford Mustang

See Danie & Ilene’s Wacky Woodstock E-session.

It looks like ZaraZoo has become the resident photography company at South Hill.  This month we have shot at this venue no fewer than 3 times!   Subscribe to our Blog to be notified when we post the other 2 weddings within the next 2 weeks.

post Le Petit Ferme Wedding (Franschhoek)

ZZ G393 Le Petit Ferme Wedding (Franschhoek)

I met up with Gillian & Chris in Soho (London) last July – they described some of the ideas they had for the wedding and it sounded awesome…  But I tell you, the day itself topped my expectations!   Now that I know Gillian a bit better, I know that everything this woman touches, turns to gold…..

La Petite Ferme with its fantastic panorama over the Franschhoek valley was the perfect spot for this relaxed afternoon wedding.  Leipzig Floral Design did the very fresh and summery decor and tables and Elsje Designs helped with the very original carnival flag table seating display and the printed (menu) napkins.

The highlight of the day for me was when the Drum Cafe session after the meal – what a lot of fun!  Give 100 guests each a drum and let them play it together – WOW what an amazing sound and feeling!  Mark my words – this is going to be the “must do” thing at 2010 weddings!

Quite a few eager bachelors in this photo…  I wonder who got the prize?  What an awesome ending shot to a fabulous wedding in Stellenbosch!

Sharon and Brent got married in the “Moeder Gemeente” in Stellenbosch and the reception was held at Kleine Zalze, a wine estate just outside Stellenbosch.  The majestic old carriage in the photos belong to Sharon’s grandfather that owns a horse farm in the Stellenbosch district.

ZZ LPBparty2010190 Little Pink Book Annual Industry Party

Just shy of two weeks ago, the Little Pink Book had their 3rd annual industry party in Cape Town.  As many of you know, the Little Pink Book is our sister company – it is a tiny, A6 size wedding planner that fits neatly in your handbag.

This annual bash has now become known as a platform for the wedding industry in Cape Town to network and just have a fun time.  An unusual venue (Oceana Powerboat Club) and theme (Trailer Trash Wedding) was chosen for the party.   The Aleit Academy used the coordination of our event as practical course work – and wow, they did an amazing job of dressing this understated location up to the a world class venue it was on the night!

It takes a bit of guts to hang out of the window of a moving train…  It takes a bit of guts to run along the top of a train and jump from one truck to the other.   And it takes a bit of grit to do your E-session on an abandoned, derelict runaway train!

But if you meet this gritty and gutsy couple, Nelia & Jason, it all makes sense!  Can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Molenvliet at the end of the month!

Subscribe to our Blog and we will notify you when Nelia & Jason’s wedding photos are posted.

ZZ AW060210 224 Blomstoor Adre & Wikus

Although Wikus & Adre live in Jozi, they always wanted to get married in the Western Cape.  Blomstoor near Betty’s Bay, was the perfect venue for them – a place where they could stroll barefoot on the beach for the photo session and have a jol with their friends later on.  The wedding was coordinated by Antoinette’s Events.

Category: Weddings

ZZ300110 M3101 12 Apostles Jacques & Mareza

Jacques and Mareza got married at the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa near Camps Bay.  This luxury wedding venue must have one of the best settings in South Africa – perfect blue water of the Atlantic ocean with enormous boulders scattered along the coastline – all this with the 12 peaks of the Table Mountain range right next to it!  As a wedding photographer in South Africa, one can easily become numb these spectacular settings – but this wedding made me appreciate it again!

Perfect summers day with a bit of a breeze to cool us down.  Perfect couple with a lot of love and a lot of zest for life!  Guys you looked fabulous!
